Thank you, Jeffco voters!

You did it! Thank you for electing me to serve on the Jeffco school board.

I am honored and humbled by your belief in my leadership ability to make an important difference on behalf of our children. Together, we will work side by side to ensure every child in Jeffco receives an excellent education.

I want to express my deepest gratitude to our army of hardworking volunteers and supporters! You made countless phone calls to voters. You walked door to door. You gave it your all – and it paid off.

I’m thrilled to serve with Jill Fellman who will represent District 3. Jill is a remarkable leader and deeply knowledgeable about proven practices in teaching and learning. I look forward to a productive working relationship with the current board and Dr. Cindy Stevenson.

Now it’s time to get to work …

Over the last 10 months, I worked tirelessly to build a bipartisan coalition of supporters from all walks of life in Jefferson County. Why? It will take all of us working together to solve the difficult challenges that lie ahead.

Jeffco Public Schools faces $70 million in budget cuts over the next two years. And the school board will face some very tough choices.

Our number one focus must remain on leveraging every dollar we have toward increased student achievement. That means ensuring every child has an excellent teacher, principal and support staff. Educators must have the tools and professional development they need to be successful in the classroom. Parent involvement is crucial. And we must engage our community every step of the way.

Please stay involved! Consider attending a board meeting – let us know what’s on your mind. Volunteer in a school. Talk to your neighbors about why great schools matter.
